UPDATE:
The Jefferson Schools Board of Education completed first-round interviews for our next Superintendent. Overwhelmed by the talent in the pool, it was difficult to narrow the field, given the clear quality of the candidates.
After thoughtful conversation and comparing each candidate to the desired profile, a solid consensus was reached in moving forward with three finalists who will return on April 16th and 17th. They are:
Dr. Sean Wightman, current Principal at Dowagiac Middle School in Dowagiac, Michigan
Amy Gee, current Principal at Wayne-Westland Community Schools in Inkster, Michigan
Dr. Catherine Cost, CFO at K12 Media and former Superintendent of Wyandotte Public Schools in Wyandotte, Michigan
Interviews are in the scheduling process and will include a public-welcome candidate reception and meet and greet.

April 2, 2024: Over Spring Break, the board met on March 28, 2024, to select additional candidates to interview for the Superintendent position. The new schedule with candidates are as follows:
Amy Gee, current Principal at Wayne-Westland Community Schools in Inkster, Michigan, will interview on April 2, 2024 at 6:15 p.m.
Dr. Sean Wightman, current Principal at Dowagiac Middle School in Dowagiac, Michigan, will interview on April 2, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Kristy Taylor, current Principal at Jefferson Middle School, will interview on April 2, 2024 at 8:45 p.m.
Dr. Catherine Cost, CFO at K12 Media and former Superintendent of Wyandotte Public Schools in Wyandotte, Michigan, will interview on April 3, 2024 at 6:15 p.m.
David Raleigh, current Superintendent of LaRue County Schools in Hodgenville, Kentucky, will interview on April 3, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.
Dr. Dwayne Richardson, current Principal Coach at Detroit Public Schools in Detroit, Michigan, will interview on April 3, 2024 at 8:45 p.m.
March 22, 2024: At last night’s board meeting (March 21, 2024), the Jefferson Schools Board considered applications submitted for their Superintendent vacancy. This comes following a thoughtful effort to develop a Candidate Profile by the Board with considerable input from the community and a weeks long application period that yielded a strong field of applicants. After careful consideration, the Board narrowed to three candidates for interview:
Amy Gee, current Principal at Wayne-Westland Community Schools in Inkster, Michigan, will interview on April 2, 2024 at 6:15 p.m.
Dr. Catherine Cost, CFO at K12 Media and former Superintendent of Wyandotte Public Schools in Wyandotte, Michigan, will interview on April 3, 2024 at 6:15 p.m.
David Raleigh, current Superintendent of LaRue County Schools in Hodgenville, Kentucky, will interview on April 3, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.
Board President, Dan Stump, stated “we were pleased with the quality and depth of our pool, and the task of narrowing from among such a group of professionals was difficult. It gives us confidence in our future.”
